Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Ferozepur (Rural) Rajneesh Dahiya welcomed the decision of the Punjab government to withdraw the arrest warrants of farmers and termed it as a fair and pro-farmer decision. Punjab Finance and Co-operation Minister Harpal Singh Cheema had yesterday announced that the Punjab government would immediately withdraw arrest warrants issued to farmers due to non-payment of loan and no farmer would be arrested. The Punjab government is with the farmers, and no anti-farmer steps will be taken.

MLA Rajneesh Dahiya alleged that previous Congress government was responsible for the plight of farmers as well as these warrants issued to arrest of farmers. He said that Congress did not fulfil it’s promise of famers’ debt waiver as Captain and Channi both lied and betrayed the farmers. He added that instead of waiving the loan Congress issued arrest warrants last December to farmers who did not repay their debt.

Rajneesh Dahiya said that previous Akali Dal, Bhartiya Janata Party and Congress governments had aggravated the plight of the farmers and are responsible for their amounted debt. These traditional parties made big false promises to the farmers but has never taken any concrete steps for the development of agriculture sector. MLA Dahiya also appreciated the decision of the Punjab government to formulate a new policy to get the farmers out of the debt and to make faming a profitable profession and said that it is the need of the hour in our state.
