Court grants bail to Kejriwal

Delhi chief minister and aam admi party supremo Arvind Kejriwal today gets bail from Delhi court in a money laundering case linked to a now-scrapped excise policy.

“Accused is admitted to bail in the sum of Rs 1 lakh,” Special Vacation Judge Niyay Bindu said.

ED’s special counsel Zoheb Hossain prayed for stay of the order till the probe agency exercises its legal remedies. However, the court rejected the request for stay.

The court said that the counsel of Arvind Kejriwal can apply for bail bond tomorrow before the concerned judge.

The judge had reserved the order earlier today after hearing the matter for two days.

Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21. In May, he was granted interim bail by the Supreme Court till June 01 in view of general elections. He surrendered on June 2.
