Court grants one day remand of ex MLA to vigilance in recruitment scam

The court today remanded Satwant Singh Mohi , ex MLA and member PPSC on one day to vigilance in PPSC recruitment scam.
Earlier vigilance presented Mohi in the court and requested for three days remand. Lawyers of Mohi objected on the three days remand raised by vigilance and argued that ” Mohi is of 73 years of age and is suffering from various ailments. He recently suffered a brain stroke and is not keeping well. The vigilance had already done the interrogation and it’s a documentary based case. The relevant documents are already in the custody of vigilance.”
The advocate added that the vigilance has not submitted any concrete documents which show his involvement.

Earlier, on December 192023 , the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has registered a case against former Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) chairman, and its four ex-members for committing irregularities in recruitment of 312 medical officers (MO) during year 2008-2009. In this case Dr Satwant Singh Mohi, an Ex MLA from Shatrana, has been arrested and raids were being conducted to arrest the other remaining accused.
Accordingly a FIR was lodged at VB police station Patiala range under the Prevention of Corruption Act and relevant sections of IPC against the then chairman and four members of PPSC.
In his first term (2002-2007) Capt Amarinder Singh had made Satwant Singh Mohi, a member of Punjab public service commission (PPSC). Later, he was indicted by SIT in a PPSC job scam and he joined SAD. After, Capt Amarinder Singh became chief minister in 2017, Mohi again joined Congress and even applied for 2019 parliamentary election ticket from Fatehgarh sahib. But on January 13,2022 Mohi joined BJP.
