Dasmesh Hawks All India Hockey Festival to kick off at Rupnagar

The 31st Dasmesh Hawks All India Hockey Festival, Rupnagar will begin on March, 15  at Hawks Stadium Bela Road, Rupnagar.

This was stated here by Vivek Sheel Soni, Senior Superintendent of Police Rupnagar & President of the organising committee of the festival.

Vivek Sheel Soni disclosed that Jai Krishan Singh, Rori,Deputy Speaker,Punjab  Legislative Assembly  would inaugurate the festival on  March 15 at 2:00 PM. Before the beginning of the match young and budding Hockey players of the Hawks Club shall bring a Holy Torch from Gurdwara Sri Bhatta Sahib, it would be received by the Chief Guest, Senior Officials and Spectators. The Holy Torch would remain lit throughout the Festival till 19th March 2023, after which it shall be ceremonially sent back to the Gurdwara Sahib.

Dr. Preeti Yadav,Deputy Commissioner Rupnagar and  Chairman, Organising Committee said that 14 reputed teams would participate in the festival. The final match would be played on March 19 at 2:30 PM. . Top most Punjabi Folk Singers shall entertain the public and  Punjab Police Band shall be in attendance.

Harjot Singh Bains, Education Minister Punjab,would be the chief guest on the final day and give away the prizes to the winning and runners up teams. The winning team would receive a cash prize of Rs. 51000/- besides the winning trophy, Runner up will get the cash prize Rs. 31000 .All players would  receive individual prizes.

S.S.Saini, General Secretary Hawks Club said that Hawks Club, Rupnagar is an exclusive Club in India which has its own stadium annd  other infrastructure. The club has raised Rupnagar Hockey not only to the National but International level during the last 50 years. Hawk Dharamvir Singh was a member of Indian Team for Commonwealth Games held in Delhi, ASIAD held in China, Champions Trophy held at Bhubaneswar, India & in London Olympics 2012. He scored many goals for the Country. Another Hawk Gaganjit Singh represented India in South Asian Games held at Guwahati.

Hawk Harjit Singh (Captain Junior World Cup Hockey Team) and  Hawk Gurinder Singh has represented India in the Junior World Cup Team and Indian Senior Team in the 2018 Asian Men’s Hockey Champions Trophy held at Oman. At present he is a current player of Senior Indian Hockey Team.
