DC suspended in Punjab

Punjab govt has suspended a deputy commissioner Sri Muktsar Sahib, Rajesh Tripathi, IAS in an alleged corruption case.
The govt has appointed Abhijeet Kapliash, IAS as new DC, Sri Muktsar Sahib
As per available information, his name is allegedly involved in corruption cases including Patiala based Kali Mata Temple’s renovation issue.
As per sources he is allegedly facing an inquiry in corruption case. When he was posted in Patiala corruption charges were leveled against him. “A bungling of Rs 10 lacs temple funds were leveled against him.In papers a gate was erected at the temple but actually it was not made. Also 65 kg of Silver of the temple was taken for polishing in Rajasthan but around 40 Kg was deposited at the temple and rest were shown as gilt .” The confirmation is awaited.
The Deputy Commissioner has been removed from his post and a Vigilance enquiry has been marked against him. This reflects the unwavering commitment of the Punjab government to ensure full transparency, accountability and integrity in public service delivery. As corrupt practices undermine public trust, weaken institutions and hinder state’s growth, hence top priority is being accorded to check this menace.
Further, based on the said feedback the state government has taken action against Deputy Commissioner Sri Muktsar Sahib. The state government had received serious complaints of corruption against the Deputy Commissioner after which a thorough enquiry was conducted against the officer. Based on the preliminary enquiry the state government has suspended the Deputy Commissioner Sri Muktsar Sahib with immediate effect.
Tripathi was promoted in November 2022 from PCS to IAS .
