DCC Patiala postpones schedule nomination filing procession as party fails to announce candidate

It seems a herculean task for the Punjab Congress to announce a suitable candidate for Patiala (urban) in a five cornered contest despite the fact that only three weeks are left in the Punjab assembly polls, which goes to the polls on February 20.
Once again, the district congress committee Patiala flashed a message to all the congress workers “that now the procession (workers going along with the candidate for filing his nomination paper) will leave the DCC office at 9;30 am on February 1, 2022. Please update all the workers.” The said message was flashed on the behalf of Narinder Pal Verma, President District congress committee, Patiala to all the congress workers, leaders of the Patiala (Urban).
As per the election commission revised schedule February 1, 2022 is the last of filing the nomination for the candidate.
“As per party insiders the Congress has finalized senior congress leader Lal Singh from Patiala Urban but, fails to announce his name. Even some senior leaders also float the name of Brahm Mohindra for party candidate from Patiala (Urban). Their is a tie between Lal singh and Brahm Mohindra. The congress may not field Lal singh from Patiala (Urban) because he belongs to Kamboj community and the community has already got three seats (Rajinder singh from Samana, Hardial Kamboj from Rajpura and Madan Lal jalalpur from Ghanour and if the high command allot another ticket to Lal Singh (Kamboj community) than others may also object. Moreover party president Navjot Singh Sidhu is batting for first mayor of the city Vishnu Sharma” said a senior local leader.
