Developments works suffering, fill vacant posts in Municipal Councils -Jagmohan Singh Kang

Former Punjab Minister and senior AAP Leader Jagmohan Singh Kang, in a missive to the Local Government Minister Punjab Inderbir Singh Nijjar, has urged him to fill the vacancies of engineering staff etc in the Municipal Councils of the State. He apprised that there was a huge shortage of engineering staff etc. in all the small and big municipal committees in the state like Executive Engineer (XEN), Sub- Divisional Engineer (SDE) and Junior Engineer (JE) etc. due to which the related development works of all the cities are being severely disrupted. He added that as per information received from the sources, the higher officials of the Municipal Councils/Executive Officers (EO) were helpless and could not carry out the works, despite their will, due to which the gullible public was suffering.
Kang Said that in District SAS Nagar there were eight Municipal Councils in which in all only one XEN and two SDE’s are posted. Due to this shortage of staff not only development works are getting delayed but the image of the government is also being adversely affected.
Kang also added that according to the law, the salaries of all these concerned officers/ employees are paid at the municipal council level hence, if the government recruits staff in these committees, then there is no financial burden on the government.
