Devotional commencement of three days of Shaheedi Sabha starts at Mata Gujri College

Ceremonies dedicated to the martyrdom of Sahibzadas Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh Ji, and Mata Gujri Ji, were started today at Mata Gujri College, Fatehgarh Sahib under the guidance of Senior Akali leader and Honorary Secretary of the college governing body Jagdeep Singh Cheema, Junior Vice President of the Shiromani Committee and member of the college governing body Avtar Singh Ria and Director Principal Dr. Kashmir Singh.

Honorary Secretary of the college Jagdeep Singh Cheema, while putting light on various aspects of Sikh history, stated that the main objective of these events is to make young generation aware of the rich Sikh heritage and culture. Junior Vice President of Shiromani Committee Avtar Singh Ria said that such a great sacrifice is not seen anywhere in the history of the world.

Director Principal Dr. Kashmir Singh said that it is our duty to encourage our children to connect with Sikh history, Sikh principles and ideology. He encouraged staff members, volunteers and students of NCC, NSS, Bharat Scouts and Guide Unit, Journalism students and Mata Gujri Study Circle to contribute more in the service work.

On this occasion, a blood donation camp was organized by the NSS unit of college in which around 400 units of blood was donated and a free First Aid camp was also organized by the Youth Red Cross unit. Apart from this, NSS Unit and Bharat Scouts and Guide Unit are rendering their services. NCC cadets are also facilitating the movement of the sangat along with the traffic police.

On this occasion, a ‘Rang-e-Roohaniyat’ art exhibition dedicated to Shaheedi Sabha was organized by the Fine Arts department and a ‘Dry flower’ exhibition was organized under the Floriculture project of the Agriculture department. The special issue of the lab journal ‘Fateh’ published by the Journalism and Mass Communication department was also released on the occasion. Mata Gujri Study Circle students are also performing joda ghar service at Gurudwara Sri Jyoti Sarup Sahib. Apart from this, special arrangements have been made by the college for the accommodation of pilgrims coming from far away including free bus service and tea langar arranged for the passengers. Around 500 volunteer students of the college are actively participating in the service work during Shaheedi Sabha.

On this occasion, Vice Principal Dr. Bikramjit Singh, Prof. Manmohan Kaur, Dr. Satnam Singh, Prof. Birinder Singh Sarao, Dr. Jagdish Singh, Dr. Dilip Singh Kachwaya, Prof. Ravinder Kaur, Dr. Avneet Kaur, Dr. Gurbaj Singh, Dr. Sukhwinder Singh Dhillon, Prof. Pushpinder Singh, Prof. Hargunpreet Singh, S. Harinder Singh, Bahadur Singh, Harminderjit Singh, Bachittar Singh,  Beerdawinder Singh and other staff members were also present.
