The Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is continuously striving to provide basic facilities and clean environment to the people of the state. Under this series, Development works are being done in across the state. Local Government Minister, Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar said that Rs 68.13 crores are being spent to expand and improve water supply and sewerage system for Malerkotla city.
While reviewing the progress of the ongoing project, Local Government Minister Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar directed the officials of Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board to complete this project by the end of this year.
Giving more information in this regard, Local Government Minister Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar said that under the approved water supply project for Malerkotla city, laying of water supply pipelines of different sizes, 9 new tubewells and other related works are covered under this project. He said that the cost of the water supply project is Rs 14.85 crores. Approximately 36 kms area will be covered under this water supply project.
Dr. Nijjar further informed that about Rs 53.28 crores are being spent to expand and improve the sewerage system at Malerkotla. The project will cover laying of sewerage lines, sewerage treatment plant with a capacity of 22 MLD and other related works.will be covered under this sewerage project. Approximately 59 Kms areas will covered under this project, he also added.
Dr. Nijjar said that the large population of Malerkotla city will benefit under this water supply and sewerage project.
He said that under this project Madevi Road, Barkatpura Road, Ravidas Road, Gobind Nagar, Naudharani Road, Nabha Road, Manak Majra Road, Lasara Drain, Dhuri Road, Janta Colony Nabha Road ITI, Maharaja Hotel, Ekta Colony, Naushehra area will covered. Apart from this, Ghumiara Mohalla, Sita Grammar School, Noor Basti, Kuka Smarak, King Colony, Apple Colony, Jodiya Mohalla, Sarud Road, Manak Majra, Gobindpura, Matoi Road, Jamalpura, Dera Baba Atma Ram Raod Ludhiana Road Left Side, Amamgarh Road, Mustaq Basti, Chetan Nagar, Khushhal Basti, Kalu Basti, Khara Khu, Sultan Basti, Chand Colony, Noor Basti, Mana Road, Raikot Roads, Madina Road, Nawab Colony, Ravidas Nagar, Loha Bajar, E.O. Residence Ludhiana Bypass, Sheetla Mata Mandir, Mandiala Road, Katcha Darwaja, Ghumlara Mohalla & Mana Road etc. are covered under Malerkotla Water Supply and Sewerage Project.
Cabinet Minister Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar said that the work of water supply and sewerage has been completed. Sewerage Treatment Plant with capacity of 22 MLD will also be completed by the end of this year.
The Cabinet Minister said that the main objective of the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is to provide basic facilities and a clean environment to the people of the state.

The Minister has directed the officials of Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board to ensure transparency and quality in the works of the department so that the dream of the Mann Government of providing corruption free administration to the people of the state can be fulfill.
