‘Donate Blood- Save Lives’-Thapar Polytechnic College, Patiala organised blood donation camp

Thapar Polytechnic College, in association with the NSS unit of TIET, Patiala and Rajindra Medical College and Hospital, Patiala, took the initiative to organize a blood donation driveon its premises on September 29, 2023 which saw an overwhelming response from students, faculty, and other staff, demonstrating their commitment to the noble cause of saving lives through voluntary blood donation. The Blood Donation Camp at TPC was organized to contribute to the local community’s healthcare needs and promote the importance of regular blood donation. Prof. Prakash Gopalan,Chairman Managing Committee(Thapar Polytechnic College) inaugurated the blood donation drive and hailed the college for such a noble cause.Dr. Ankush Kansal, Principal, Thapar Polytechnic College, reiterated the need for voluntary blood donation as it is a cornerstone of a safe and adequate blood supply. On this occasion, he congratulated the team for successfully conducting a blood donation camp for the fifth time. This step of humanity will fulfill the need for blood to a large extent for the needy in this Dengue outbreak.

The activity of blood donation was executed by a group of 10 members including staff posted in the blood bank of Rajindra Hospital, Patiala. It was an exceptional opportunity for the donors to donate their blood to save lives. According to estimates from (WHO)India needs approximately 12 million units of blood every year. A shortage of this valuable resource has a significant impact on emergency conditions.The enthusiastic donors helped to collect 42 units of blood. Each donor was taken care of by looking after any post-donation weakness or nausea and with they were provided with refreshments.
