In the third week of September 2022, a “Video Leaked” incident at Chandigarh University had rocked, not only Tricity but the whole Punjab, Nation.

After the incident, the Punjab police arrested a woman student of Chandigarh University after she allegedly made objectionable videos of hostel inmate’s public. The action was taken after hostel inmates claimed their videos went viral.

However, in a statement released by Chandigarh University, Pro-Chancellor RS Bawa said, “The rumour which is circulating through the media that 60 objectionable MMS have been found of students is totally false and baseless. During the preliminary investigation conducted by the university, there have been no videos found of any student that are objectionable except a personal video shot by a girl that she shared with her boyfriend.”

Situation went out of control after rumours floated that hostel resident allegedly tried to commit suicide. However, the university management claimed that no girl had attempted suicide and added that rather few girls had ‘fainted’.

After the things going out of control, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann constituted a high-level inquiry into the incident. He said “Sad to hear of the incident at Chandigarh University. Our daughters are our pride. We have ordered a high-level inquiry into the incident. Whoever is guilty will face strict action. I am constantly in touch with the administration. I appeal to all of you to avoid rumours.”

The accused girl student of Chandigarh University had reportedly said she made videos of some girls and sent them to a youth in Shimla who allegedly uploaded those on social media. Later, she along with the boy, to whom she forwarded the videos were arrested by police.

After this incident, a photo message is made viral on social media by some miscreants, alleging that “the accused girl is a “Muslim” and is making the videos of her college mate “Hindu” girls. The miscreants alleged that she had made the obscene videos of sixty Hindu girls and blackmailing them. If, any Hindu girl has any Muslim girl as her friend, ask them to not to meet them in future.”

When royalpatiala.in team got this message, it cross checked with the Chandigarh University authorities about the religion of the accused girl. The team was informed by Mr Kang of the University that she is a Brahmin Hindu Girl, not a Muslim girl, as alleged in the fake message made viral on social media.
