After two months Punjab government has finally issues the notification of appointment of five Improvement Trusts Chairmen’s.
A list of 10 names for the post in Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Patiala had been issued along with those for Hoshiarpur, Pathankot, Moga, Samana, Rajpura, Khanna and Fazilka in September 2022.
But in October, the Local Government Department had initiated the process to wind up the improvement trusts at Kotkapura, Khanna, Nangal, Samana, Malerkotla, Rajpura, Abohar, Kartarpur and Machhiwara . The appointed chairman’s were not able to join his office for a single day as no notification was issued for any of the ten appointees.
Earlier the Punjab chief minister had cleared the name of AAP leader Kundan Gogia for the post of Samana Improvement Trust Chairman and Parveen Chhabra for that of Rajpura. However, before a notification could come for their appointment, their posts were abolished.
There were 30 improvements trusts under the Local Government Department before the abolition of these improvement trusts.
