A sudden fire broke out near the blood bank of Amritsar’s Civil Hospital around 7 a.m. on Monday, triggering panic among patients and staff. Within minutes, the blaze intensified, but timely action by hospital staff and the swift response of the fire department prevented a major tragedy.
Eyewitnesses said smoke was first spotted near the blood bank, prompting immediate evacuation efforts. Patients were quickly shifted to safety, with special attention given to the children’s ward, located right next to the affected area.
Hospital authorities confirmed that no casualties were reported. An assessment of the damage is underway, but officials assured that all patients are safe and hospital services will continue without disruption.
The fire department has initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the blaze.
