A five-day International regional training program titled “Role of Business Incubators in Encapsulating Sustainable Development: A TVET Perspective” from 4thto 8thSeptember 2023 inaugurated today i.e. September 4, 2023 at National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research, Sector 26, Chandigarh in collaboration with Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC), Philippines
A five-day International regional training program titled “Role of Business Incubators in Encapsulating Sustainable Development: A TVET Perspective” has been inaugurated today i.e. September 4, 2023 at National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research, Sector 26, Chandigarh which is being organized in collaboration with Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC), Philippines and NITTTR Chandigarh from 4thto 8thSeptember 2023.
Dr. Niraj Bala, Professor & Head, Entrepreneurship Development and Industrial Coordination department, NITTTR, Chandigarh and Coordinator of this training programme from NITTTR Chandigarh welcomed all to the inaugural ceremony. For the function Chief Guest – Prof Dheeraj P. Sharma, Director Indian Institute of Management Rohtak; Guest of Honour – Prof. G.L.D. Wickramasinghe, Director-General, Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) Philippines; Prof. B.R. Gurjar, Director, NITTTR, Chandigarh; Dr. Kesavan Ulaganathen, Governing Board-Engaged Faculty Consultant, Colombo Plan Staff College, Philippines; Dr. S.K. Dhameja, Professor, EDIC, NITTTR, Chandigarh; and Dr. Harsh Vardhan Samalia, Associate Professor, NITTTR, Chandigarh were among the renowned dignitaries who graced the occasion.
In addition to India, there are 12 delegates from several member countries comprising Thailand, Malaysia, Fiji, Philippines, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal who are participating in this training programme.
Prof. B.R. Gurjar, Director, NITTTR, Chandigarh while addressing all present gave a brief of the transitional journey from agrarian economies to Industrial production-oriented economies across the world. He further emphasized that need for employment aroused because of the present carbon/fossil fuel utilization-based economies leading to the development of Megacities. Prof. Gurjar further propounded to new technology implementation in a new way so that a good model of sustainable development can be arrived at. Dr. Kesavan Ulaganathen, Governing Board-Engaged Faculty Consultant, Colombo Plan Staff College, Philippines shared the objectives of training programme and details of the resource persons. Guest of Honour – Prof. G.L.D. Wickramasinghe, Director-General, Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) Philippines in his address to the audience shared about the establishment of CPSC with initial base at Singapore in 1974 and then shifting with headquarter at Manila in 1987. Prof. Wickramasinghe further shared that this is first Collaborative Regional Program for the present financial year. He appreciated the support of Govt. of India in all forms for successful rolling out of the present program.
The Chief Guest – Prof. Dheeraj P. Sharma, Director Indian Institute of Management Rohtak in his inaugural address emphasized on the customization of the products and services to the customer needs and wants. Prof. Sharma further propounded to serve the customers uniquely. He also highlighted that as an academic administrator to support innovations and start-ups 5 S’s viz. a viz. Scouting, Substantiate, System, Set of Float, Spread shall be exercised.
Five day International regional training program begins at NITTTR, Chandigarh . The present five-day training programme apart from Lectures, Workshop & Group Work Activities will encompass an International Colloquium on Industry Academia Integration and Sustainable Development. In addition to this in order to have more insights and to learn and understand about the Business Incubator and its functioning a study visit to Technology Business Incubator of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar has also been planned.
Dr. Harsh Vardhan Samalia Co-coordinator for the International training program from NITTTR Chandigarh proposed a formal Vote of thanks.
