GoGs actively participating in DAPO campaign-Lt. Gen. TS Shergill

Punjab CM’s senior adviser Lt. Gen. T S Shergill (retd.), said that the accurate and impartial information being sent by the GoGs (Guardians of Governance) from the grass-root level has been regularly helping the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab Government to provide efficient and transparent governance in the state. He was here to preside over a meeting of the GOGs and administrative officials of Barnala district.
Shergill, while lauding their efforts, said that apart from the basic job, the GoGs have also actively participated in the Drug Abuse and Prevention Officer (DAPO) progamme of Punjab Government to eradicate drug menace from their respective villages. He added that they have ensured that each and every drug addict should properly undergo the de-addiction treatment from de-addiction centres and OOAT clinics. He said that they have also done commendable job in Ghar Ghar Rozgar campaign and in Mahatma Gandhi Sarbat Vikas Yojna (MGSVY) to ensure benefit of social welfare schemes of the government to the eligible residents of Punjab.
Shergill said that the report sent by the GoGs about any misdoing or negligence in their respective area has been regularly being to the SDMs, the Deputy Commissioners, the Principal Secretary and the Chief Minister’s Office through the mobile app. He said that it was also being ensured that required action should be taken by the concerned department in the minimum period of time. He said that soon the Punjab Government would start the process for the recruitment of GoG officials on Tehsil-level to enhance the performance of GoGs.
Deputy Commissioner Barnala Dharam Pal Gupta also lauded the efforts of GoGs and assured the GoGs every possible help from the district administrative officials for the betterment of residents of Barnala.
On this occasion, SSP Harjit Singh, ADC Ruhi Dugg, Captain Harminder Singh, Assistant Commissioner Dr. Karamjit Singh, GoGs Incharge Retd. Colonel Labh Singh, District Defence Welfare Officer Barnala Retd. Wing Commander Rajwant Singh Chahal among officers from various departments including all GOGs was also present.
