Good News -Home ministry extends date for applying for awards
The union home ministry has extended the form submission date for applying for President Police Medal for Distinguished services and Meritorious Services on the occasion of Independence Day,2023. Earlier the last date for submission of the application with recommendation was May 15,2023. But, now the application, with the recommendation can be submitted online by May 26,2023.
Similarly, the last date for applying for ‘Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Investigation’ for the year 2023 has been extended and can now be submitted online by May 31st,2023.

President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service
The President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service is awarded for long and distinguished service to individuals who have served at least 21 years in the police service or in the central police and security organizations. Individuals must be prior recipients of the Police Medal for Meritorious Service and must have held that medal for at least six years.
President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Services
The President of Indian Union has instituted awards to be conferred on the members of Police Forces, Central Police/Security Organization throughout the country in consideration of meritorious services rendered by them. The President Police Medal for Meritorious Services is awarded only to those who have performed service of conspicuous merit and shown utmost devotion to duty within the territory of India. It is a prestigious medal for any member of the police force which is awarded after thorough scrutiny at the state level and then at Central Government level by a very senior officers committee.
Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Investigation
The “Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Investigation” was constituted in 2018, with the objective to promote high professional standards of investigation of crime and to recognize such Excellence in Investigation.
