Health services shambles in Civil Hospital Rajpura; doctor refuses to admit patient in emergency

Today, once again an untoward incident came to fore in civil hospital Rajpura, where a doctor on duty maltreated the patient and refused to admit him in the emergency.
As per the persons, relatives accompanying the injured patient, “today we take our injured patient to civil hospital, Rajpura for treatment. The doctor refused to treat him in the hospital and referred him to Rajindra Hospital, Patiala for CT scan. We took the patient to Rajindra Hospital for CT scan, as per doctor’s advice, reference. There we didn’t get the response as the doctors said your patient will get treatment at Rajpura and we take our patient back to civil hospital Rajpura, without any treatment, CT Scan done at Rajindra Hospital. The doctor on duty, Dr Sikander Singh at civil hospital Rajpura refused to admit our patient in the emergency and to treat him. Dr Sikander Singh forced us to take our patient to our home, without any treatment. He even misbehaved with us.”

When contacted the SMO Rajpura Dr Jagpalinder Singh to know why his staff didn’t admit an injured patient, refused to give him medical treatment and maltreated the patient, his relatives, he said “ right now I am busy. Please call me in the morning and that to after 9:00 am. Then I’ll respond to your questions.”
When contacted MS of Mata Kaushaliya Hospital, Dr Sandeep, she said “the matter has been sorted out. I had instructed the doctor at civil hospital to admit the patient in the emergency and treat him on priority.” When asked why the doctor on duty refused earlier to treat him, she said “the patient had a fight with another person. That person was also injured and already admitted in the emergency. This patient was insisting to admit him in this hospital only.”
When asked why the doctor refuse to give medical treatment to the injured person and insisting the relatives to take him to his home, she said “yes, it’s wrong. The doctor on duty should have admit him, given him the required medical treatment. After that if he feels the patient is ok than he should have discharged him.”
When questioned, why he came back from Rajindra Hospital without treatment CT scan, when he was referred by the civil hospital doctor, on this she said “that I’ll check it with the MS Rajindra Hospital in the morning and seek his report.”
