High Commission of an East African Country visited Guru Nanak Dev University

Her Excellency Esther Karema Mutua from the Kenya High Commission visited Guru Nanak Dev University. During her visit, Mutua met with Kenyan students and the Chairman of the International Student Cell at the Golden Jubilee Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (GJCEI) of the Guru Nanak Dev University. She had open discussions with the Kenyan students, gaining insights into their educational experiences. Additionally, she interacted with heads of various departments to gather information about Kenyan students enrolled in those departments.
Mutua also met with the Prof. Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice Chancellor to discuss strengthening the university’s ties with African countries and fostering international relations. She visited various departments, including the MYAS-GNDU Department of Sports Sciences and Medicine, Agriculture, GJCEI, Dean Student Welfare, Director of Research, Food Science & Technology, and Biotechnology, where she appreciated the ongoing research and academic work. Mutua expressed her gratitude to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sandhu, and the Chairman of the International Student Cell, Prof. P.K. Pati, for their warm hospitality during her visit.
Prof. Pati said that the University attracts numerous international students from various countries every year. To facilitate these students, the university has established an International Student Cell. These students are admitted through various funding agencies such as the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Study in India, and self-sponsored programs. This International Student Cell has made the admission process easier and more accessible for international students, significantly enhancing the university’s global reputation.
