Today the Enforcement Directorate (ED) presented Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi’s nephew Bhupinder Singh Honey before the judicial court after his remand expired and the court sent him to judicial custody for 14 days on Friday in connection with Enforcement Directorate’s investigation into an illegal sand mining case.
Honey will be spending his judicial remand in Kapurthala jail.
Honey, nephew of Punjab chief minister was arrested on February 3 on money laundering charges less than a fortnight after the ED conducted searches at his properties in Ludhiana and Mohali.
ED had earlier taken Bhupinder Singh Honey on 4-day remand on February 4. After that, on February 8, after presenting it again, remand was sought again. The court had again sent Honey to the ED’s custody for three days for interrogation. But today the court remanded him to judicial custody.
Bhupinder Singh Honey’s troubles are going to increase further. After the Enforcement Directorate, now the Income Tax Department has started preparing a list to documents to corner Honey. The nephew of Chief Minister Channi seems to be getting entangled very badly in the affair of central agencies.
