There was information received regarding illegal mining at Village Kutha Kheri of Ghanour in Patiala district. After receiving the information the site were checked by the field staff of mining department team led by junior engineer cum mining inspector Sushant Walia and Vikram JE.

Divulging the details Er Raghav Garg SDO cum Assistant District  Mining officer said that it was found that a field was dug about 6-7 feet deep and a Poclain machine of Hitachi Company was standing there. The concerned Police station PS Kheri Gandian was informed and the police officials were called on the spot. A formal complaint has been lodged with the police.

The application regarding the issue of illegal mining was written and mailed to the concerned SHO and was asked to take action under Punjab mines and minerals rules 2013 & mines development and regulation act 1957 and under the NGT guidelines dated 19-02-2020 ( letter number – 890 dt -12-06-2020). FIR number 90 dated 3-11-2022 has been registered at PS Kheri Gandian.

Besides this regular checking and patrolling of area is also done and proper action is taken against anyone who is carrying out illegal mining activity in the area. On 3 Nov 2022 a raid was carried out  at Village Dudhar under the PS Pasiana for illegal  mining and 1 number tipper and poclain were handed over to chowki incharge Dakala while taking action on illegal mining today and another raid was carried out at Village sehajpura khurd where a complaint was received regarding illegal mining.

Illegal mining reported in Patiala; mining department swoop into action. Three numbers of poclain, 2 jcbs, 1 tipper, 1 trolley has been recovered and handed over to police chowki Mavi Kallan, Samana (Patiala).

Three FIR’s have been registered against above machinery owners and application has been written  for further investigation against land owners.
