Dr. Sandeep Kumar Garg,2012 batch IPS officer, took over senior superintendent of police(SSP) of Rupnagar on Saturday. On arrival, a guard of honor was given by the Punjab Police contingent. Senior officers of Rupnagar police were also present on the occasion.
He also remained SSP of Patiala,Mansa,Sangrur and Jalandhar(Rural) before his present posting.He also remained posted as ASP at Rupnagar in 2014 before his elevation.
Interacting with media persons after assuming his charge, Garg said that law and order situation in the district would be maintained and criminal cases would be dealt with. He said that special campaign would be launched against drugs and strict action would be taken against drug dealers.
Dr. Sandeep Garg said that the grievances of the people would be resolved in due course. He said that his priority was to provide responsible and accountable police administration to the people of the district and corruption would not be tolerated at any cost.

He said that illegal mining would not be allowed in the district at any cost and strict action would be taken against those who would indulge in such illegal activities,He said that strict action would also be taken against overloaded trucks / tippers keeping in view the traffic rules.
He said that police would also seek the help of mining department to check illegal mining and a meeting with the mining officials would be held next week.
He said that those police officials, who had been posted at a particular place for long time would be shifted.
Keeping in view the traffic problem in the district, he said that the number of traffic police personnel would be increased to control the traffic problem. He said that strict action would be taken immediately against those vehicles which did not have paperwork or number plates.
Garg said that the doors of his office were open for every one and anybody could come to him with the their problems and grievances.
