PSEB Engineers Association (PSEBEA)  has demanded that the Punjab government should go for a 800 MW supercritical thermal plant at Ropar and 250MW solar plant at Bhatinda for providing low cost and reliable power to the state.

Due to rising power demand, PSEB Engineers Association seeks supercritical thermal plant and Solar plant in Punjab. JS Dhiman, President of the Association said that  in a recent meeting held with the chief minister  requested him that in the interest of the State, there is an urgent need to establish a 250 MW Solar plant under the state sector at the site of GNDTP Bathinda . The Solar plants will help provide cheaper electricity to the consumers of the state using the existing degraded land at the site of GNDTP Bathinda. This project can be executed at a very low cost, in a short time duration as power evacuation transmission system, substations are already available at Bhatinda.

Atwal general secretary requested the chief minister that in view of the rising demand of power in Punjab, an 800 MW supercritical unit needs to be installed immediately at Ropar at  the GGSSTP site. PSPCL has sufficient coal available from the Pachwara coal mine. Due to availability of Land and infrastructure at GGSSTP Ropar 800 MW Thermal Plant can be installed at low cost to give cheaper electricity and generate employment opportunities.
