India proved its mettle; once again becomes Champion

India beat New Zealand by four wickets in the final of Champions Trophy at Dubai. Besides a well-made 76 from captain Rohit Sharma, India were also helped by a 48 from Shreyas Iyer and an unbeaten 34 from KL Rahul as they chased down New Zealand’s 252-run target with six balls to spare.
In a repeat of the ICC Knockout 2000 final, India again secured its 3rd Champions Trophy title and a second consecutive win in an ICC event. New Zealand have won the toss and opted to bat on a hot afternoon.
This is India’s third Champions Trophy win. They are the first team to clinch this title for the third time!
Now, India captain Rohit Sharma goes past Sourav Ganguly and Kapil Dev. Rohit now has two ICC trophies to his name. He is only below MS Dhoni in that regard, who has won 3 ICC titles as the India captain
PM Narendra Modi also congratulated the team. He shared a post on his social media account “An exceptional game and an exceptional result! Proud of our cricket team for bringing home the ICC Champions Trophy. They’ve played wonderfully through the tournament. Congratulations to our team for the splendid all around display.”
