INSPIRE Science Camp concluded at Baba Farid College

Bathinda-Five Days, 3rd INSPIRE Science Internship Camp organized by Baba Farid College, Bathinda successfully concluded here today. This camp was 5 days residential camp being sponsored by Department of Science and Technology, Government of India and BFGI is the only institute of the Malwa region hosting Inspire Camp for the 3rd time. A total of 176 students from 23 different schools of the region participated in this camp. Diparva Lakra (I.A.S.), Deputy Commissioner, Bathinda was the Chief Guest of Valedictory function.

At this time Dr. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, Chairman, BFGI welcome the chief guest and other dignitaries and acknowledged the efforts made by the organizing team in making the event a success and he said that these types of activities should be organized frequently in the BFGI campus.

Diparva Lakra (I.A.S.), Deputy Commissioner, Bathinda while addressing to the students said that Science is presents everywhere. From the day we open our eyes and come to this world, we get explored to science. He also said that we should excel in every field we work for. He motivated each one to speak & participate in discussions. He appreciated the contribution of BFGI in education field as well as in social services. He also distributed certificates & mementoes to the participants and gave prizes to the winners of Best Innovative Idea. Priya Narang from Baba Farid Public Sr. Sec. School, Faridkot got first prize, Munish Kumar from Adarsh Sr. Sec. School, Kot Bhai (Gidderbaha) got second Prize and Vikramjit Singh from Baba Farid Sr. Sec. School, Bathinda got third Prize.

In this camp a platform was provided to students to interact with eminent scientists in various fields of sciences and get a deep insight into various career options available to them especially in science. The sessions helped them to know ‘SCIENCE’ in a better way as well as to develop scientific aptitude” The students had an excellent opportunity to interact with Eminent Professors and Scientists of National and International repute which include Prof. (Dr.) V. Adimurthy, Dean of Research , Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Banglore, S. Prem Singh (DST National Awardee), Prof. (Dr.) Charanjeet Singh Aulakh ( Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana), Prof. (Dr.) G.S. Sodhi ( Delhi University),  Prof. (Dr.) Santosh Kumar (Kumaun University, Nainital), Prof. (Dr.) Jayant K. Tripathi ( Jawahar Lal Nehru University, New Delhi), Prof. (Dr.) S.K. Gupta ( IIT, Roorkee), Prof. (Dr.) Sumit Kumar ( IIM, Udaipur), Prof. (Dr.) D.D. Aggarwal (Jiwaji University, Gwalior) and Prof. (Dr.) Rupinder Kaur (D.A.V. College, Amritsar). They motivated students to think out of the box and inspired them to take “Science as there Career”.

During the camp the students were given the chance to have the hands on experience through the practical sessions in various labs of Physics, Chemistry, Agriculture and Biotechnology.In addition to this, Students enjoyed Science Fun games in the evening sessions and learn a lot in “Winnovation” (Robotics workshop). Students said that they have learned a lot in this camp and this camp will be very fruitful and beneficial for them in future.
