Inter Disciplinary Refresher Course in “Information Communication Technology (On-line)” concludes at UGC-MMTTC, Punjabi University

The UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre at Punjabi University, Patiala, is delighted to announce the successful completion of the Inter Disciplinary Courses Refresher Course in “Information Communication Technology”. This intensive 2-weeks programme was conducted offline from November 19, 2024, to December 04, 2024, in accordance with the instructions of UGC-MHRD. Participants from various states and esteemed universities across India attended the Refresher Course.

The valedictory session began with the university Dhuni, followed by a heartfelt welcome address delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Raman Maini, Director of UGC-MMTTC, Punjabi University, Patiala. Dr. Maini remarked, “These 12 days have been truly enriching, marked by insightful discussions, intensive learning, and meaningful exchanges”.  Dr. Maini congratulated all the participants on successfully completing the course and emphasized that this program would have effectively addressed their needs in enhancing teaching and learning methodologies, communication skills, and personality development.

The session proceeded with an insightful and motivating address by the Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) Manjit Singh, Director of the Centre for Diaspora Studies at Punjabi University, Patiala. Prof. Singh highlighted the significance of the program, emphasizing how it has served as a remarkable platform for faculty members from diverse institutions across India to collaborate, exchange ideas, and learn from one another. Sharing his perspectives, Prof. Singh encouraged participants to “Broaden Their Vision” and embrace new possibilities. He reflected on the pivotal role of technology, remarking that ICT has become a vital enabler, enhancing efficiency, accessibility, and overall productivity. By simplifying complex processes, ICT empowers educators and administrators to focus on innovation and excellence in their respective domains. Prof. Singh further extended his appreciation to Dr. Raman Maini, Director ofUGC-MMTTC, for his tireless efforts and dedication in ensuring the successful execution of the program. He lauded the initiative as a valuable contribution to the academic community, fostering growth and transformation in higher education.

Prof. (Dr.) Inderpreet Singh Ahuja, Dean, Multi- Disciplinary Five-Year Integrated Programmes (FYIPs), the Guest of Honour, congratulated all the participants on successful completion of the course. He said that this programme must have catered to their needs be it in their Teaching and Learning Skills, Communication skills as well as in their Personality development. Dr. Ahuja also said that ICT is not just about using tools; it is about adapting a mindset that embraces change and innovation. It challenges us to think beyond traditional frameworks, to experiment with ideas, and to leverage technology to address real-world challenges.

Participants also shared their feedback and showcased cultural programmes, adding a vibrant touch to the event.

I am confident that the knowledge and skills you’ve gained here will empower you to implement practical solutions, improve efficiencies, and even inspire others around you.She really appreciated all the resource persons who supported this Refresher Course, especially in guiding the teacher trainees through their lectures on various aspects of Higher Education.

Dr.Dhavleesh Rattan, the Course Co-Coordinator of the Refresher Course in ICT, while addressing all the participants, stated, as you move forward, I encourage you to maintain your curiosity and embrace every opportunity to learn and grow. ICT is a dynamic field, and your proactive efforts will ensure that you remain at the forefront of innovation. Apply the skills and knowledge you’ve gained here not only to enhance your own work but also to inspire and create positive change in your communities and workplaces. I am excited to see how each of you will translate what you’ve learned into meaningful actions and impactful contributions.

During the closing remarks, Dr Maini extended heartfelt praise and gratitude to the dedicated staff members Mandeep Singh, Dyal Dutt, Surinder Singh, Kanta Rani, Mahaveer Singh, Surinder Kumar highlighting their exemplary organizational skills and crucial contributions in ensuring that all sessions were conducted seamlessly in an offline format.
