Modern Senior Secondary School, Patiala organized a Chess workshop, hosted by Aadya Gupta, an International Chess Player and Women FIDE Master, at just the age of 15, for school’s dedicated chess players.
In a remarkable display of skill and mentorship, Aadya played simultaneously against 10 selected students at the same time, beating all 10 one after the other, offering them real-time feedback, tactical insights, and practical strategies. These young chess enthusiasts, guided by her expertise, are now set to participate in the MSSSP Inter-School Chess Tournament 2025, scheduled for July 30.
As part of the workshop, Aadya also held an interactive session with over 90 students who share a passion for chess. She meticulously analyzed a master-level game played by a former World Champion – Vishwanathan Anand and Zapto Alonso, challenging students to think critically about the right and wrong moves, exploring turning points where the game could have shifted in favour of the grandmaster.
One of the most memorable moments of the day was the announcement that the school’s in-house chess trophy, awarded annually on Founder’s Day, has been renamed the “Aadya Gupta Award for Excellence in Chess.” During the session, Aadya personally identified and felicitated the deserving students who will now be the latest names inscribed on this prestigious cup, joining the past champions.
Aadya Gupta will also grace the MSSSP Inter-School Chess Tournament 2025 as Chief Guest, presenting trophies and certificates to the winners.
