Chairman of National Commission for Minorities, Member, Central Parliamentary Board, and eminent Sikh scholar Iqbal Singh Lalpura has greeted the people of the country on the occasion of Bandi Chhor Diwas and Diwali.
Lalpura said that this Deepawali, let us end hatred and bitterness towards each other and spread the message of universal brotherhood in the world. “These festivals inspire us to be the voice of truth and stand by the oppressed of tyranny,” Lalpura said.
He appealed to the people to celebrate the festival of Deepawali in a green, environment-friendly and safe manner. Calling upon the people to celebrate green Diwali, he appealed to the people to celebrate the holy festival of Diwali by planting saplings and doing other creative work instead of bursting crackers to avoid noise and environmental pollution so as to create an atmosphere of mutual harmony and happiness.
At the same time, he also said that instead of spending unnecessary money on this festival, food items and other essential commodities should be distributed to the poor and helpless people and a resolution should be taken to do the same.
