It appears that some of the private schools in Patiala are beyond the authority of the State Chief Minister, Education Minister, Secretary of School Education, Deputy Commissioner, and District Education Officer, as they continue to regularly flout government orders with impunity.
Many times, reputed private schools in Patiala openly overrule the orders of the State Chief Minister and Education Minister right under the nose of the district administration and the education department, owing to the lenient attitude of the concerned authorities.
Few days ago the matter is highlighted in these columns. But the district administration, district education office casual behavior comes to fore. DEO Patiala had admitted that private schools were opened but no notice, action has been initiated against any private school violating CM’s, education minister orders.
One of the reputed school of Patiala, Kaintal School called teachers not on Saturday but even on Sunday (January 11,2026) despite the fact that the all private, government, aided schools are closed in Punjab till January 13, 2026 due to harsh weather conditions.

When contacted Jai Virk of Kaintal School, Patiala to know why the school is flouting CM, education minister orders and calling teachers in holidays, even on Sunday he said “ I have nothing to say. If you want strong byte, discussions on this please come to my office. Moreover our Federation of Private Schools and Associations of Punjab (FAP) has asked us to call them as per our requirement. We have to follow their (FAP) orders. If you want more you can call our FAP President.”
When questioned, does that other schools affiliated with the FAP were also open across Punjab. This raises the question: do the State Chief Minister’s orders hold no weight in comparison to FAP’s directives? Do association orders carry more authority? he said “ so you need strong byte “after making this statement, he abruptly cut the phone call.
Meanwhile the district education officer Sanjiv Kumar could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.
A principal of another reputed school on the condition of anonymity said “Many other schools are calling teachers. Instructions must be clear and uniform for everyone, and the Government notification should be strictly followed by all schools; otherwise, we feel we are lagging behind.”
