JGNDPSO University organizes a webinar on “International Women’s Day”

Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University, Patiala, today organised a webinar on “International Women’s Day” under the guidance of the visionary Vice-Chancellor Prof. Karamjeet Singh. The theme of the webinar was “Gender Equality Today for the Sustainable Tomorrow”.  Harpreet Kaur, Chief Judicial Magistrate – cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, SBS Nagar, Mohali and Dr. Surekha Dangwal, Vice Chancellor, Doon University Dehradun were the keynote speakers on the occasion.

Underscoring the role of gender-sensitive education in achieving parity in the society, Prof. Karamjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor of the University said that equal opportunities to education can bring economic independence and empowerment to the women. Drawing inspiration from the life of the Universal guru, Guru Nanak Dev ji, he further added that the foundation of a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable society can be laid only by respecting the identity of a woman in social spaces.

Harpreet Kaur, highlighting the achievements of women in every field ranging from home run enterprises to space exploration, she said that women in the contemporary times are taking long strides on the path of progress. She has the potential to make significant contributions in every field she steps in; the only need is to give her the platform at the right time.

Dr. Surekha Dangwal said that to create a world that’s diverse, equitable, and inclusive, it is important to take the male counterparts into confidence and accept them as partners in taking the stand against gender inequality.

JGNDPSO University organizes a webinar on “International Women’s Day”. Dr. G. S. Batra, Dean Academic affairs of the University welcomed the guests. At the end Prof. Dharam Singh Sandhu, Registrar of the University presented the vote of thanks. Dr. Gurleen Ahluwalia, Assistant Professor was the Coordinator of the Webinar.
