The festival associated with on setting of spring season, marking new beginning – ‘Basant Panchami ‘ is going to be celebrated with great Festive Fervour in Patiala .

Basant means spring and Panchami means fifth. The festival is celebrated on the fifth day of Magh month.During this time the skies in Punjab are filled with colourful Kites and people will conduct Kite flying competitions.

Gurudwara Dukhniwaran Sahib in Patiala is famous for organizing Jor Mel on the occasion of Basant Panchami celebrations. People from far off places visits Gurudwara Dukhniwaran Sahib and seek blessings from God. During this a fair is also organized outside Gurudwara sahib. Children of Patiala wait anxiously to visit in this fair and enjoy a lot.

A blood donation camp is also to be organized on the occasion of Basant Panchammi at Gurudwara Dukhniwaran Sahib.

The celebrations start in the morning and go till late night. As per the programme Kirtan will start at 8 AM in the morning to 10 AM on Monday, 22 Jan. From 10 AM to 4 PM  Bhai Gurpayar Singh, Bhai Baldev Singh, Bibi Rajwant kaur, Bhai Jatinder Singh Sidhu, Bhai Lakhwinder Singh paras, Bhai Sital Singh Mishra, Bhai Balbir Singh Sagar will perform in  Dhaddi Darbar.

From 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM Head Granthi of Gurudwara Dukhniwaran Sahib Gianai Parnam Singh will perform the Katha.

SGPC President Gobind Singh Longowal will also pay his obeisance at Gurudwara Dukhniwaran Sahib on this occasion.

This year Bhai Jaspinder Singh, Bhai Randhir Singh and Bhai Karnail Singh Hazuri Raggi’s of Darbar Sahib, Sri Amritsar Sahib along with Bhai Harkirat Singh, Bhai Jaswinder Singh and Bhai Sukhbir Singh raggi’s of Gurudwara Dukhniwaran Sahib will perform Kirtan on Monday 22 Jan at Gurudwara Dukhniwaran Sahib.
