Lecture on Relics of Anglo-Sikh War at World University

Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib’s Department of Guru Granth Sahib Studies organised a special lecture on the Relics of Anglo- Sikh war.

Director of United Kingdom based Sikh Museum Initiative, Gurinder Singh Maan was invited as the guest speaker while Dr. Paramveer Singh from Punjabi University, Patiala graced the occasion as the chief guest. The lecture was presided by the University’s Vice Chancellor Dr. Sukhdarshan Singh Khehra. In his address to the gathering of academicians and students, Gurinder Singh Maan discussed about the different facets of the Anglo- Sikh war.

Maan displayed various relics of the Anglo-Sikh wars that have been preserved by his organisation. He told that the most of the relics like Kavach, Dastaar, Kadda etc have been discovered by him. The chief guest on the occasion, Dr. Paramvir Singh said that these relics have a deep rooted connect with Sikh culture, religion and tradition.  In his talk, Dr. Paramvir Singh also threw light on the personality and political farsightedness of Maharaja Ranjit Singh.

Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. Sukhdarshan Singh Khehra said that relics like these are invaluable part of our history and institutions of higher education like Universities and Museums must preserve these relics for the future generations. Earlier, Dean Faculty of languages and Head of the Department of Guru Granth Sahib Studies, Prof. Swaraj Raj welcomed the guests introduced the theme of the lecture. In the end, Dean Students Welfare of the University, Dr. BirBikram Singh thanked the academicians and students for sparing their valuable time.
