Legend Milkha Singh to flag off Muktsar Marathon 2018
DC Sri Muktsar Sahib Dr Sumit Kumar Jarangal and SSP Dr Sushil Kumar extended the invitation with an event T shirt and book dedicated to it. They said that the Punjab government was holding this event to encourage sports and the event will be held on March 18 at Gidderbaha.
Inspector of General of Police Mukhwinder Singh Chhina today accepted the warm invitation to Muktsar Marathon 2018 that Deputy Commissioner Sri Muktsar Sahib Dr Sumit Kumar Jarangal and the SSP Sri Muktsar Sahib Sushil Kumar extended him here today. Appreciating the efforts, Chhina said that this event was a unique initiative that would not only promote good health but also set records of sorts.
Chhina added that District Olympics Association Sri Muktsar Sahib was organizing the 21 kms half marathon and this international event will see youngsters from Punjab and other states being a part of it. He said that the Marathon winners will be given cash prizes worth Rs 13 lakhs. One can register online on portal www.muktsarmarathon.org.
The Flying Sikh Milkha Singh will be flag off the grand event, while famous singer Gurdas Mann will also be a part of it.
Deputy Commissioner Bathinda Diprava Lakra today appealed the residents of Bathinda too to be a part of this grand event.
Giving further information about event, DC Sri Muktsar Sahib Dr Sumit Kumar Jarangal stated that besides 21 kms half marathon, the event also has 10 kms and 5 kms run will also be organized. People of more than 12 years of age can participate in this. People above 18 years of age can participate in 21 kms half marathon.
He added that 12 prizes are up for grabs. First prize for men and women category is Rs 1 lacs each, second prize is of Rs 70000 and Rs 50000 as third prize.
