Literary Activities concluded at Modi College Patiala

An event was organized to mark the end of month long literary activities by Arcadia Society, Department of English under the guidance of Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar. During this month, the department of English organized a 10 day workshop on ‘English Language and Punctuation’, ‘A story writing competition’ (based on the themes of ‘Physical Disability’ and ‘Ambition’), a spelling bee, Competition, a poetry recitation competition and a feature writing competition (on the themes of ‘Global Warming’ and ‘Impact of Social Media on Society’).
Principal (Dr.) Khushvinder Kumar was the Chief Guest of this event. While welcoming him the Vice Principal Dr. Baljinder Kaur said that ‘these competitions were organized to equip the students with required advanced skills in reading, listening, writing and speaking English language.
Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar congratulated the faculty members and participating students and encouraged them to develop critical thinking and analytical skills for learning any language. The participating students also shared their experiences regarding these competitions. The competitions were organized by Prof. Vaneet kaur, Prof. Poonam Dhiman, Dr. Shikha, Prof. Shivani, Prof. Parul Chugh, Prof. Harpreet Singh, Prof. Harleen Kaur and Prof. Kuldeep Kaur. The winners of these competitions were Tarshpreet Kaur, BA-III (First Position), Pranjal, BSc-II (NM) (Second Position) and Shruti, BSc-II and Yugal, BA-II (shared the third position) in poetry recitation competition.
In the spelling bee Competition Jayant Bansal, B.Com.-I (Honours) won the (first position), Tarshpreet Kaur BA-III stood (second position) and Kuljit Singh, BA-II (Third position). In story writing Competition winners were Dentie Singh, BA-II (First position), Hiteshi, BA-III (Second position) and Manjot Kaur, BA-III (Third position). In the feature writing competition Harmandeep Kaur, BCom-I won First position, Kunal, BA-II (Second position) and Kritika Mittal, BCom-I (Third position). Vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Vaneet Kaur.
