Mata Gujri Geography students visited Weather observatory
Fatehgarh Sahib-Geography department of Mata Gujri College organized an educational trip to weather observatory of Indian Meteorological Department at Patiala.
Geography students gained the scientific knowledge of different aspects of the aspects of weather and climate during the visit. They have also acquired the knowledge of different weather instruments like X-band Analog Multi-sat Radar and Doppler Weather Radar. The experts of the meteorological department have given detailed information regarding atmospheric pressure, the formation of clouds and wind velocity etc.
Indian Meteorology department provides the minute to minute information of the atmospheric conditions within the radius of 500 kilometers with the help of advanced instruments. Climatologists told that they collect the daily weather data of the whole country and provide the foretasted information to people.
The Director-Principal of the college Dr. Kashmir Singh stated that such educational visits are must for the students to get conceptual clarity on the subject. Head of the Geography department stated that department organizes such academic activities to enrich the practical skills among the students and field visits are imperative for the students of Geography. During this visit, Prof. Navdeep Kaur, Dr. Amit Kumar and students were also present.
