NCCOEEE convention warns of countrywide agitation against Chandigarh power privatisation

National Co-ordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers (NCCOEEE) warn the Chandigarh administration and central government of a country wide agitation against the privatisation of Chandigarh power department.
VK Gupta ,spokesperson All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF ) said that the northern regional convention of NCCOEEE , a broad based platform of all the National Federations of Electricity Employees & Engineers was held today at Chandigarh.
The convention was addressed by Shailendra Dubey Chairman AIPEF, Prashant Chawhry Convener NCCOEEEE,Padamjit Singh(AIPEF),Mohan Sharma (AIEEF), Abhimanyu Dhankar(Diploma engineers ), Subhash Lamba (EEFI) ,Amit Ranjan (Uttarakhand) ,Gopal Joshi (Chandigarh) and other office bearers of associations and trade unions.
Prashant Chawhary informed that the convention passed a unanimous resolution calling upon the policymakers of the country to drop the target of snatching away the right to electricity of poor & rural people of India in the name of privatisation of electricity distribution network of the country,
Shailendra Dubey condemned the central government to sell -off public assets & resources of power sector to corporate houses at throw away price.
This exposes the hidden agenda of the central government to transfer high revenue potential urban & industrial hubs to private companies. This will push up the tariff of left out consumers of state owned distribution company’s area of supply to sky level.
Mohan Sharma said that all the non-BJP state Governments vehemently opposed the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2021 and the plan of privatisation of Discoms. Even the BJP led state governments did not comply the privatisation process in view of all-round resistance and this foiled all the attempts of privatisation.
This convention noted that Chandigarh electricity department is a profit making department with a high level of consumer satisfaction and very low transmission and distribution losses.
Subhash Lamba said that the convention extends full support to power sector employees of Chandigarh in their struggle against privatization and decries the Chandigarh administration in adopting suppressive measures to crush the democratic movement.
Chandigarh administration has promulgated undemocratic black law ESMA to declare the lawful strike as illegal and imposed retrenchment, suspension, departmental show cause, and false charges framed
by the Police in the court of law upon the employees of Chandigarh.
NCCOEEE convention warns of countrywide agitation against Chandigarh power privatisation. The Convention urges the government to withdraw all false charges and penal measures immediately.
V K Gupta said that the privatisation of union territories is just a preamble of government policy to privatise the state electricity boards.
