New Nabha Jail Inmates Showcase Talents in Baking and Craftsmanship

In a heartwarming display of skill and creativity, the female inmates of new Nabha Jail have taken a step towards rehabilitation and reintegration into society. Through their collective efforts under the banner of “SahaJ,” (an acronym for Sahayta for Jail inmates. ) they have showcased their newfound talents, igniting a ray of hope for all those involved.

The event, inaugurated by Arun Gupta , the District and Sessions  Judge Fatehgarh Sahib witnessed a remarkable transformation as the female inmates unveiled their baking skills, producing a delectable array of sooji cakes and cupcakes. Notably, all these baked goodies were completely egg less, demonstrating their commitment to catering to various dietary preferences.

Furthermore, the inmates demonstrated their creativity by sewing beautiful fulkaris (traditional Punjabi embroidery) on fashionable cloth bags. These exquisite fulkaris received an overwhelmingly positive response from the attendees, leading to multiple orders from those impressed by the craftswomen’s talent.

Secretary District Legal Services Authority, Fatehgarh Sahib, Manpreet Kaur informed that the term “SahaJ” symbolises  their journey of rehabilitation, reflecting the values of patience and perseverance. It encapsulates the essence of ‘thehrav,’ which means finding stability and balance in life.

In addition to the inmates’ impressive work, students from the District Special Resource Centre in Sirhind City also contributed to the event’s charm. They displayed handcrafted candles and diyas, perfect for the upcoming festival of Diwali, adding a touch of festivity to the occasion.
