After Congress expelled its sitting and former MLAs, leaders before the election date (February 20, 2022) it seems now it’s a time for other parties to restructure their party organization.
Today, shiromani akali dal (SAD) has expelled its Ex MLA of Moga Joginder Pal Jain, his son Akshit Jain, who is former Mayor of Moga Corporation and four other local leaders from Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) party for anti party activities.
Joginder Pal Jain was elected to Punjab assembly thrice, including bypoll election of 2013. He had won from Congress ticket in 2007 and 2012. Later he had joined SAD and won 2013 bypoll election. But, now days he is away from active politics due to health issues.
As per sources, Joginder Pal Jain was not known to be on good terms with former Agriculture Minister Tota Singh. Tota had opposed his entry into the Akali Dal but gave in to deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, in 2012-13
According to party sources the Jain and Brar family was not on same page since the joining of Joginder Pal Jain into the party.
Other leaders are Jagdeep Singh Gatra, former president of district youth Akali Dal, Parget Singh, former vice president of district youth Akali Dal, Veerbhan Dhan, former councillor and Dr Sharanpreet Singh Micky Gill.
On Sunday heated arguments were exchanged between Akali Candidate Barjinder Singh alias Makhan Brar and Amrish Bagga, a former councillor and Akshit Jain Moga, a former mayor of Moga corporation, near B.Ed college Moga.
Sources said that the local unit of SAD believed that the Jain family helped candidates of opposition parties.
As per Tirath Singh Mahla, president of SAD’s district unit Moga, “these leaders have been expelled from party with immediate effect as Jain’s openly indulged in anti party activities.”
Party spokesperson Daljit Singh Cheema confirmed the development.
Akshit Jain, was elected first mayor of Moga Municipal Corporation in 2015, surpassing many veteran councillors from his own party SAD. That election, SAD had two camps — one led by his father’s supporters (Joginder Pal Jain was then Moga MLA till 2017) and the other by SAD veteran leader Jathedar Tota Singh and his son, Barjinder Singh Brar alias Makhan.
