A meeting of District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee(DISHA) chaired by Anandpur Sahib member of parliament Manish Tewari ,reviewed the ongoing development works in Rupnagar district including various projects being carried out under central and Punjab government. schemes.
Discussing the MGNREGA scheme in the meeting, Manish Tewari said that under this scheme efforts would be made to expedite the rural development works and pay the workers so as to ensure employment guarantee. It was informed in the meeting that under MGNREGA scheme so far 20,254 persons have been provided employment and Rs. 78.04 lakhs were disbursed.
With a view to further strengthen the self-help groups with a view to provide employment to the needy women in the villages, it was decided during the meeting to use various means to sell the goods made by them at appropriate place.
Rupnagar MLA advocate Dinesh Chadha said that Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana was launched to provide employment opportunities to the youth. . He said direct contact with the industries should be established to provide jobs to trained students after completion of their courses.
