Over 50,000 MT Wheat Arrives in Patiala District Mandis

Deputy Commissioner, Patiala Dr. Preeti Yadav informed that wheat arrivals are steadily progressing across Patiala district, with arrival having commenced in 96 out of the 109 designated centres. As of the previous day, a total of 51,791 metric tonnes of wheat had arrived in the mandis, out of which 37,862 metric tonnes have already been procured. In a significant boost to farmers, payments amounting to Rs 28 crore have been disbursed, while the lifting of the procured stock is underway in parallel.
Providing further details, Dr. Preeti Yadav stated that of the total wheat procured so far, Pungrain has purchased 11,194 metric tonnes, Markfed 6,948 metric tonnes, Punsup 4,523 metric tonnes, and the Punjab State Warehousing Corporation 7,513 metric tonnes. Private traders have also actively participated, procuring 7,681 metric tonnes of wheat. Looking ahead, she noted that during the current Rabi season, an estimated 9,17,230 metric tonnes of wheat is expected to arrive in the district’s mandis.
