The Department of Medical Education & Research Punjab Government has restored the old timings from 8 -00 A.M. to 2-30 P.M. in Govt. Medical Colleges in Patiala and Amritsar. They also changed the timings of state Dental and Ayurvedic colleges, with immediate effect. As per the notification (issued on 2nd June) the decision will be applicable to the faculty, para-medical and the technical staff. However, the Principal of these colleges will be responsible to fulfill the condition of the teaching hours in accordance with the norms fixed by Medical Council of India.
Patiala Amritsar Medical College timings changed
The matter was brought to the notice of the Minister of Medical Education & Research Punjab Brahm Mohindra by Punjab State Medical & Dental Teachers Association during a meeting with him on May 22 at Chandigarh. According to Dr DS Bhullar, General Secretary of the association, the college working hour were extended to 4 P.M. arbitrarily without any need two years by the previous government. The faculty has thanked Brahm Mohindra and urged the state government to roll back all other arbitrary decisions taken by the previous government on the advice of Health & Medical Education Advisor Dr KK Talwar and demanded his resignation for his anti faculty acts in the past.
