Protest Rally by Junior Doctors of Rajindra Hospital

Patiala-Junior doctors of Rajindra Hospital in Patiala are up in arms against rising criminal incidences of assault on the doctors and staff on duty and interference by goonism in the medical care institutes. The doctors today held a protest in the hospital demanding security and safety for the on duty doctors, in view of multiple incidents happening repeatedly at the hospital premises endangering the security of the doctor.

According to Dr Dipmle, leader of the Junior Doctors Association, a shameful activity happened recently on Saturday (14/04/2018) at midnight in emergency department of Rajindra Hospital Patiala, wherein group of people after clash came to the emergency and started fighting in the emergency department again and damaged hospital property and threatened the doctor on duty, as a consequence doctor and staff on duty had to escape the situation and took shelter in the nearest police chowki. JDA in view of this incident held a march demanding tight security and not allowing more than one attendee with the patient.

Punjab State Medical & Dental Teachers Association Patiala Unit leaders have condemned the incidence and also joined the protest rally assuring full support to the junior doctors and demanded to tighten the police security in the hospital and increasing vigil in the emergency ward in particular and overall security during night hours in Rajindra Hospital.

The doctors associations have sought an emergency meeting with Principal Secretary Research and Medical Education to evolve a long term solution to this menace of irresponsible behavior of public in health care institutions.

Medical College Principal and Medical Superintendent of hospital Dr BS Brar assured the junior doctors that strict action will be taken against the culprits and demands of junior doctors to be fulfilled soon.
