In a twist, Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann has shared his decision about the refusal of resignation of Parampal Kaur Sidhu, IAS after few hours of her joining saffron party at BJP’s head office at New Delhi.

He tweeted “Parampal Kaur ji’s resignation as IAS officer has not been accepted by Punjab Govt..Biba ji was in such a hurry to become IAS..any way to quit..please understand how to resign..otherwise life long. earnings may be at risk.

Earlier as per reports, on April 3,2024, Senior akali dal leader’s daughter-in-law Parampal Kaur Sidhu, IAS had resigned from the post to contest upcoming Lok Sabha elections.Speculations are rife that BJP is going to field Parampal kaur Sidhu from Bathinda .

A 2011-batch IAS officer, Sidhu is due to retire in October and has already been on leave. She is currently posted as managing director of the Punjab State Industrial Development Corporation, had sent her resignation to Chief Secretary Anurag Verma. If Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann clears the resignation, it will be sent to the central Department of Personnel and Training. As the chief minister has not accepted her resignation, it means that she is still in service .

As per reports, Parampal Kaur is a 2011 batch IAS officer, a daughter-in-law of akali dal leader Sikandar Singh Malukahad sought voluntary retirement last week. “Now, this move of her, joining a political party without waiting for her resignation to be accepted, may invite disciplinary action against her. Even the CM also warned Parampal Kaur that joining a political party without resignation being accepted could land her in trouble.’ said a officer on the condition of anonymity.
