Punjab govt names school after writer Ram Saroop Ankhi, Meet Hayer ; DEO (E) calendar released

The Chief Minister Bhagwan Singh Mann led Punjab government has started a campaign to honour the freedom fighters, martyrs and best of writers. Under this initiative of government the Government Primary Smart School Dhaula has now been named as Ram Saroop Ankhi Government Primary Smart School Dhaula.

Also the work has started on naming Government Primary School Sehna (boys) after doyen of Punjabi literature – Balwant Gargi.

The Minister for Higher Education and Languages Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer said while launching the calendar of district education office (elementary), which is dedicated to the martyrdom of Sahibzadas.

Appreciating the efforts of Elementary Education office, Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer said that Barnala’s DEO (elementary) office was the only one in state that has launched its own calendar. Through this calendar all the 182 primary schools in district will be made aware of the great Martyrdom of Sahibzadas.

DEO (E) Sarabjit Singh Toor said that the basic aim of making this calendar was to ensure that each and every student is made aware of the great sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji who laid their lives for humanity.

Besides this the achievements of primary schools have also be made apart of this calendar. The calendar also carries details of Punjab’s first Smart School government Primary School Bihla, pictures of special children have have achieved awards in state level sports, pictures of state awardee and national awardde teachers, nursery established in Surjitpura School etc.

Punjab govt names school after writer Ram Saroop Ankhi, Meet Hayer ; DEO (E) calendar released . Prominent among others present included Deputy DEO Madam Vasundhara Kapila, padho Punjab district coordinator Kuldeep Singh Bhullar, Pradeep Kumar and Dr Sanjay Singla.

Ram Sarup Ankhi  was an Indian writer, poet, and novelist who wrote in Punjabi. He started as a poet but ended up as a fiction writer. He was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award by the Sahitya Akademi, India’s National Academy of Letters in 1987 for his novel Kothe Kharak Singh.
