Punjab Medical Council gets new President

Punjab Government appointed Dr Amar Satinder Singh Sekhon as President of the Punjab Medical Council.
An official spokesman said that the term of Dr Sekhon shall be for five years. As per the information in press release, Dr Sekhon served as a Captain in Army Medical corps from 1968-73. From 1974 onwards he served in the Punjab Medical Education department, held several important assignments such as Medical Superintendent, Government Rajindra Hospital, Registrar Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Dean Gian Sagar Medical College and so many others important posts.

He also remained member of health committees of Government of India, UNICEF, WHO, Director of Adesh Medical College, Bathinda and consultant of Punjab State for ICDS programme.

Punjab Medical Council is a statutory body constituted under the Punjab Medical Registration Act 1916 & the Punjab Medical Registration (Amendment) Act 2010. Punjab Medical Council is vested with powers, duties and function of regulating the practice of Modern Scientific System of Medicine (Allopathy).
