Punjab Petrol pump dealers extends support to Bharat Bandh call; to remain closed for 6 hours; complete bandh on Feb 22

Punjab petrol pump dealers has extended support to farmers, unions who have given a Bharat bandh call on February 16,2024.
Monty Sehgal spokesperson of Punjab petrol pump dealers association has said “ we are supporting the famers. On February 16,2024 the petrol pumps will remain closed from 10 am to 4 pm. But, we are open for all emergency services, ambulances etc.”
The Bharat Bandh on Friday will not affect emergency services like ambulance operations, medical shops, marriage, schools, etc.
Monty Sehgal further added “ we have also given a bandh call on February 22,2024. On that day, the petrol pumps in Punjab will remain shut for public. We are demanding the revision of our margin that was revised in 2017. Since the last year the government has not revised petrol pump dealers’ margin. Other states like Bihar, Rajasthan etc has also given a strike call in their states.”
Several farmers’ unions, including the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), have called for a Gramin Bharat Bandh or nationwide strike on Friday, February 16, to press for their demands before the Centre. The Samyukta Kisan Morcha urged all like-minded farmers’ organisations to unite and take part in the February 16 Gramin Bharat Bandh called by the central trade unions.
As per available information “Transportation, agricultural activities, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) rural works, private offices, village shops, and rural industrial and service sector institutions are expected to remain closed due to farmer unions’ nationwide strike on Friday, February 16.”
Also, Power Junior Engineers & Promoted Engineering Officers working in PSPCL and PSTCL will wear black badges on February 16,2024 to express solidarity with the nationwide general strike call given by Samyukta Kisan Morcha and Joint platform of Central Trade Unions/ Federations / Association against anti-people measures and policies of the Central Government.
