MHA orders suspension of internet services in area under 11 police stations in Punjab

In a surprise move, the ministry of home affairs has directly ordered the suspension of internet services in areas under around 11 police stations of Punjab.

Haryana government has already suspended internet services in its 7 districts bordering Punjab.

In view of the farmers’ agitation and march towards New Delhi, internet services have been suspended till February 16 in select areas under some police stations of Patiala, Sangrur and Fatehgarh Sahib districts on the directions of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

As per available information the  letter had been issued on February 12 by the MHA ordering suspension of internet services between February 12 and February 16 in areas falling under certain police stations in the three districts bordering Haryana. The raeson for writing the letter seems to be based on certain inputs received from the Intelligence Bureau (IB) since a copy of the letter has also been marked to the Director Intelligence Bureau.
