Punjab police to fill assistant superintendent jails posts on deputation: demanded names of SI’s

Punjab police is going to fill the vacant posts of assistant superintendent jails in Punjab thru deputation process. In a letter issued by Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, to all the heads of police department to recommend the names of sub inspectors to be deputed as assistant superintendent jails in Punjab prison department, on deputation.
As per the letter, the heads were directed to recommend the names of 41 eligible sub inspectors with no objection certificates to the office of the DGP Punjab for further action.
Punjab prison department is facing an uphill task to control the sneaking of drugs, cell phone inside the jail premises, due to the shortage of staff. Even gangsters are operating openly from inside the jails, taking advantage of shortage of staff.
Recently the Punjab Government has deployed the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Punjab jails to check sneaking in of prohibited items into the jail.
With the deployment of the CRPF, it is expected that the inflow of drugs, mobile phones and other prohibited items in the jail could be completely stopped. The CRPF jawans will be deployed at the main spots on the jail premises and they can also frisk the jail staff on suspicion. They would man the strategic locations of the jail to check sneaking in of prohibited items into the jail.
