Punjabi Cultural Council, World Gatka Federation Congratulate Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi, Preet Gill for winning elections in UK

The Punjabi Cultural Council (PCC) and the World Gatka Federation (WGF) have extended warm congratulations to Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi and Preet Kaur Gill on their resounding re-elections in the recent United Kingdom (UK) general elections. The Labour Party’s landslide victory on Friday has secured significant representation in the UK House of Commons.

In a statement, Harjeet Singh Grewal, Chairman of the Punjabi Cultural Council and a state award winner, has expressed immense pride in the historic achievement of the Sikh community in these elections. He informed that a record ten Sikh members have been elected to the parliament, including five women and five men, all representing the Labour Party. Notably, Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi from the Slough constituency and Preet Kaur Gill from Birmingham Edgbaston have been re-elected for the second consecutive time, continuing their dedicated advocacy for Sikhs and broader community issues within the UK parliament. Additionally, eight newly-elected Sikh MPs are entering parliament for the first time, marking a significant milestone for our community.
