Rare case of left adrenal gland cancer treated at IVY

A very rare case of left adrenal gland cancer was operated upon successfully at IVY Hospital Nawanshahr recently.
Surinder Kaur (70) from Una in HP had complaints of pain in abdomen and lump abdomen from the past 6 months.
She had a tumor arising from the left adrenal gland. This is a very rare tumor which is seen in about 1 in million cases, said Dr. Vikrant Rai, radiologist informed.
The gland was located above the kidney and had attained size of 20×16 centimetres, informed Dr. Hemkant Verma and Dr. Sandeep Aggarwal, both onco surgeons at IVY.
The tumor was stuck between vital blood vessels and vital organs, they informed.
Such tumors could have blood pressure fluctuations during surgery, informed Dr. Sameer & Dr. Devika, both anesthetists.
The complex surgery lasted for about three and half hours. After surgery the patient recovered well and was discharged after the 6th day of the surgery.
