RGMC elections-2069 members sealed the fate of 25 contestants

Today, during an annual elections, a festive scene was witnessed by members at region’s oldest, prestigious club-Rajindra Gymkhana and Mahindra Club, Patiala.
Large numbers of club voters turned up for voting. Out of 2800 member 73.89 percent voter’s i.e 2069 members castes their votes.
Today, the member voted for the five posts for office-bearer-president, vice president, general secretary, treasurer, joint secretary and seven executive members.
For the post of president, both groups have fielded a doctor. Progressive group fielded renowned orthopedican Dr JPS Walia and Gymkhana Goodwill group fielded renowned cardiologist Dr Sudhir Verma.
Progressive group fielded MM Syal (for the post of vice-president), Harpreet Sandhu (for honorary secretary),Dr. Neeraj Goyal (for joint secretary) and Dr. Sanjay Bansal (for treasurer).Goodwill group has fielded Vikas Puri for vice-president, Vinod Sharma for the post of secretary, HPS Bajaj for treasurer and Deepak Malhorta for joint secretary, along with seven members for posts of executive members by both the groups. Rahul Mehta contested for the post of joint secretary as an Independent candidate.
“Such a large number of voting has created anxiety in the minds of contestant as it seems to be neck and neck fight between them” said a member after casting his vote.
Earlier in the day an annual general meeting was held in the club premises at 10.30 am. After the AGM, an election process was started that continued till 7 pm. The counting of votes will be done on December 30 and the result will be declared on the same day.

She retired as a Principal of Govt Mohindra college, Patiala.
